The city of Yeongcheon in North Gyeongsang Province and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a 28 billion KRW investment with two companies in the video conference room of Yeongcheon City Hall on the 28th.
The companies that signed the investment MOU on this day are 'Ace Nanochem' and 'Ecolab Korea'. The two companies are expected to significantly contribute to the revitalization of the local economy and job creation by investing 28 billion KRW to expand semiconductor abrasive production lines in the Yeongcheon Advanced Materials and Parts Industry Zone, which will include the hiring of 55 new employees.
'Ace Nanochem' is the only manufacturer of colloidal silica (nanoparticles) in South Korea, producing polishing slurries for various fields, including CMP slurries and wafer slurries used as semiconductor abrasives. It is a Gyeongbuk Star Enterprise and a global hidden champion contributing to the localization of semiconductor materials.
In 2014, the company expanded its business by completing its second plant within the Yeongcheon Advanced Materials and Parts Industry Zone. Having received the '5 Million Dollar Export Tower' award last year, it completed the joint development of materials with a major domestic semiconductor conglomerate in 2019 and is currently undergoing mass production evaluation. Through this MOU, Ace Nanochem has decided to invest 10 billion KRW and hire 25 employees to expand the second production line within its Yeongcheon plant.
'Ecolab Korea' is a subsidiary of the US-based Ecolab Inc., which was originally founded in 1923. It is a leading global company where 45,000 employees currently provide comprehensive solutions to protect people and vital resources for 3 million customers across more than 170 countries by advancing food safety, maintaining clean environments, and optimizing water and energy use.
Notably, it has been recognized as one of the 'World's Most Ethical Companies' every year since 2007, achieving the honor of winning for 15 consecutive years. Through this MOU, the company committed to a foreign investment of 16 million USD (approximately 18 billion KRW) and the hiring of 30 employees.
