On the 29th, SK Hynix (CEO Lee Seok-hee) held a signing ceremony at the SK Hynix Guest House in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. The event was attended by CEO Lee, as well as Oh Sung-gu, CEO of Digital Frontier; Kim Ok-ryul, CEO of Pemvix; and Lee Jong-hoon, CEO of Ace Nanochem.
Since 2017, SK Hynix has been selecting Tech Innovation Companies from among its domestic partners, providing comprehensive support across various fields—including technology, finance, and management—for a period of two years. Until last year, the program exclusively targeted companies in the semiconductor front-end manufacturing process. Starting this year, the scope of support has been expanded to include companies in the back-end process.
SK Hynix will jointly develop technologies with the selected companies and allow their products to be experimentally applied to its own production lines for performance evaluation. Additionally, the company provides interest-free loans for technological development and guarantees the purchase of a certain volume of the newly developed products.
Digital Frontier, one of the newly selected companies, is a manufacturer of semiconductor testing equipment that has been achieving significant results in the localization of such equipment. Pemvix, a company specializing in equipment parts coating, is highly regarded for its original technologies and patents. Ace Nanochem is a company recognized for its outstanding solution processing technology used in the semiconductor polishing process.
During the event, CEO Lee emphasized, "Our partner companies are not just business partners, but a family in a broader sense," adding, "If both companies collaborate with a strong commitment to technological development, it will lead to even greater achievements and rewards."
Meanwhile, APTC and Oros Technology, equipment companies selected in 2017, saw their sales grow by 60% and 145%, respectively, last year compared to the year before their selection (2016). TEMC, UB Materials, and MiCo, which were selected last year, are currently co-developing semiconductor materials with SK Hynix. These materials are scheduled to be launched in 2020 following mass production evaluations.
